Campus Announcements/Islander News Briefs will be emailed once a week on Wednesdays to faculty and staff. The deadline for submission is Tuesday at noon. Items submitted the same day of distribution will be included in the next distribution.
The Office of Marketing & Communications gathers and distributes Islander News Briefs. Any announcements indicated as "open to the public" will also be added to the University's public calendar and be sent to local media outlets. In order to qualify as a campus announcement, the event must be sponsored by a University college, department, or organization.
To get an event posted on Islander News Briefs:
Please forward announcement requests via email to: Islander News Briefs. Please limit submissions to a maximum of 200 words. All submissions must include event name, date, place, time, contact person with phone number, and admission cost. The text should be submitted in the body email instead of any type of attachment; however, we encourage you to send a Web link with additional information.
The Office of Marketing & Communications reserves the right to edit all submissions and to determine the timing and placement of all submissions.

College of Education Master’s Program Reception: The College of Education will hold a reception to explain its programs for teachers, undergraduates and graduates who are interested in a master’s in education on Wednesday, April 19, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the University Center, Lone Star Ballroom. Inherit the Wind: The Department of Communication and Theatre will present “Inherit the Wind” from Thursday, April 20 through Sunday, April 30 in the Wilson Theatre located in the Center for the Arts. “Inherit the Wind,” written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, is based on the 1925 Scopes Monkey Trial in Dayton, Tenn. that sparked a heated debate on the issues of creation theory and censorship. Advance tickets are on sale at the University Theatre Box Office in the Center for the Arts. General admission is $8.
