Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Launches Online High School Diploma and Credit Recovery Courses

April 06, 2012

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is partnering with nationally accredited Smart Horizons Career Online High School to offer students the opportunity to earn high school credit online.

Credit recovery courses are designed to help current high school students get back on track towards graduation. Courses are available in algebra, geometry, chemistry, and English for as low as $299 per semester. Students earn one-half credit upon successful completion of each semester-long course. Students can start anytime and work at their own pace with the guidance of a dedicated and experienced instructor. A semester can be completed in as little as four weeks.

The Career Online High School Diploma program is designed to help students 18 and older earn their high school diploma and prepare for an entry-level position in a high-demand occupation. It is an 18-credit high school program that consists of four English credits, three Math credits, four Social Studies credits, and three Science credits plus four credits in one of six possible career paths: Homeland Security, Certified Protection Officer, Certified Transportation Services, Child Care, Office Management or General Career Preparation. Students work at their own pace under the guidance of an academic coach and a support team of certified teachers.

Career Online High School is fully accredited by AdvancED, a unified organization of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). Courses are developed around national standards.
