Undergraduate Biology Students Receive Summer Scholarships with Coastal Conservation Association-Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Coastal Conservation Association has awarded four $6,000 scholarships to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi undergraduate biology students to work with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department this summer. A fifth scholarship is being funded by the Mr. Big Fish Tournament, sponsored by concrete contractors from the San Antonio area.

The recipients and the locations where they will work are:

  • Zaida Hager – Aransas Bay
  • Nathan Huysman  – Corpus Christi Bay
  • Mike Birchfield – Upper Laguna Madre
  • Nicole Poulson – Upper Laguna Madre
  • Elliot Brielle – Lower Laguna Madre

This is the 10th consecutive year that the Coastal Conservation Association has sponsored the summer scholarships for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi students. The Coastal Conservation Association is a non-profit organization comprised of 17 coastal state chapters spanning the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic seaboard, and the Pacific Northwest.
