State Policy Requires New Students to Present Proof of Meningitis Vaccination or Booster Prior to Enrollment for Fall Semester

June 25, 2012

All new students under 30 years old must provide certified proof that they have received a meningitis vaccination or booster within the last five years before enrolling for the fall 2012 semester at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

The new state policy which went into effect on Jan. 1 requires new students at Texas universities to submit proof from a certified health professional at least 10 days before the start of classes. Students who fail to submit certified proof of vaccination or valid booster within the required time frame will be unable to register for the semester. The fall semester at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi begins on Wednesday, Aug. 22.

All documents related to compliance with the bacterial meningitis policy should be mailed, faxed (with cover sheet), emailed, or hand delivered to the University’s Office of Admissions located in the Student Services Center. For medical questions concerning the policy, students may contact the University Health Center Nurse Line at 361.825.5735. For questions regarding document submission and approval, students should contact the Office of Admissions at 361.825.2624. For more information, go to http://admissions.tamucc.edu/meningitis.html.
