CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – University President Flavius Killebrew hosted a reception in the Woo Sung Lee Alumni Welcome Center on Sept. 25 to introduce Dr. Don Albrecht, vice president for Student Engagement and Success, to the campus community.

“We’re proud to have found someone with such a long history of helping students achieve their goals,” said Killebrew. “Dr. Albrecht has served in leadership positions dedicated to student engagement and success since 1977, and I am confident that he will excel in his responsibility to look out for the welfare of our growing student body.”

Albrecht heads Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s newest division which was created to help both undergraduate and graduate students reach the Island University’s goals of retention and engagement. He came to the Island University from West Texas A&M University where he was vice president for Student Affairs.

“In the past couple of months, I’ve had the opportunity to really get to know the many directors and other leaders who spend one-on-one time with our students,” said Albrecht. “We have such a wealth of knowledge toward students on the staff of this new division that I am confident in the many ways we can advance opportunities for students, both on and off campus.”

Albrecht graduated from Texas A&M University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He earned his Master of Education degree from Texas A&M in 1977 and, in August 1989, was awarded his Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration, also from Texas A&M University.
