Dr. Lee Smee Receives CBBF Stewardship Award in Education

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Dr. Lee Smee, Associate Professor of Life Science at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, received the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation’s (CBBF) Conservation & Environmental Stewardship Award in Education at the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation Banquet held November 30, in Portland, Texas.

Dr. Smee was awarded this honor for his continuous mentoring efforts to graduate and undergraduate student researchers and for teaching courses at the University. His lab students participate in an outreach program for the Life Science Club at Tuloso-Midway High School in Corpus Christi. They have been working with high school students since 2008. Dr. Smee also works with youth as a Cub Scout leader.

The Conservation & Environmental Stewardship Awards Program recognizes and honors outstanding Coastal Bend citizens, educators, businesses, governing bodies, and other entities that have made significant contributions to the protection of the natural resources, habitats and native species of the Coastal Bend.
