Furgason Bravo! Series Performer Inducted Into CMA Texas Hall of Fame

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – “Singing Cowboy Poet” Michael Martin Murphey was inducted into the Country Music Association (CMA) Texas Hall of Fame on December 4 during his Cowboy Christmas Concert on the Performing Arts Center stage at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Murphey, who has entertained crowds for eight consecutive years as part of the University’s Gloria and Robert R. Furgason Bravo! Series for the Performing Arts, was caught by surprise when he was presented with the CMA award by Dr. Bruce Nelson Stratton of KFTX “Real Country” radio.

Murphey was recognized for his nearly 30 charted national hits, songwriting abilities, six gold albums, multiple Grammy nominations, awards, and motion picture appearances. Other artists inducted into the CMA Hall of Fame include Willie Nelson, Ray Price, Mickey Gilley, Freddy Fender, and George Strait.
