Brig. Gen. Joe Ramirez is Featured Speaker of ROTC Cadet Forum

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The ROTC Islander Battalion will present its “Cadet Forum on Leadership” on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the University Center, Oso Room 221. The featured speaker will be Retired Brig. Gen. Joe E. Ramirez Jr., Commandant of the Texas A&M University-College Station Corps of Cadets. The event is free and open to the public.

Ramirez served in the military for 31 years and commanded soldiers around the world. He commanded the B Battery, 2nd Battalion, 41st Field Artillery in Bad Kissingen, Germany; the 1st Battalion, 41st Field Artillery at Ft. Stewart, Ga.; the 1st Cavalry Division Artillery at Fort Hood, Texas; and was the Deputy Division Commander for the 2nd Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea. He was also the Deputy Chief of Staff for the United States Central Command during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

His numerous military awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal. 

Ramirez received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Texas A&M University in 1979; a master’s degree in Management from Webster University in 1993; and a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College in 2000.
