COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M System Board of Regents today (Thursday, Jan. 31) approved the addition of a new dining hall project to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s capital plan.

The plan complements the recently approved construction of four housing units that will add 300 beds for students on the island campus. Currently, students select among dining options distributed across campus, but do not have access to a traditional dining hall.  The single-story building in the housing complex on campus will accommodate up to 400 diners. In addition to providing new dining options, the dining hall will serve as a gathering place and center of activity for students, faculty, and staff.

“We are particularly excited about making our campus feel a little more like home for our students who are living on their own for the first time,” said Dr. Flavius Killebrew, President/ CEO of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. “We know that students who live on campus perform better in the classroom and we are proud to enhance opportunities for student success.” The $8 million construction plan will be funded with revenue from dining services. Construction on the new dining hall is set to begin later this year.
