Islander Forum Focuses on Helping Latinos Succeed in Higher Education

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi held its Spring 2013 Islander Forum January 17, featuring a keynote address by Sarita E. Brown, President of Excelencia in Education.

Key speaker and workshop facilitator Sarita E. Brown, President of Excelencia in Education, discussed “What We Know and Are Learning about Serving Latino Students.”

This year’s forum showcased presentations and discussions about creating conditions for student success and will focused on inclusiveness in higher education in South Texas.

Dr. Luis Cifuentes, Dr. JoAnn Canales, Dr. Cristina Kirklighter, Sam Ramirez, Steve Silvas - "Inclusive Excellence at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi: Expanding a Culture of Learning and Inquiry in South Texas."

Excelencia in Education is a not-for-profit organization working to accelerate Latino success in higher education by linking research, policy, and practice to serve Latino students.
