Noelle Ballmer Elected as State Representative for South Central Writing Association

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Noelle Ballmer, Director of the Center for Academic Student Achievement (CASA) Writing Center, has been elected as a State Representative for the South Central Writing Centers Association (SCWCA).

Ballmer was also the organizer of the SCWCA Conference held February 21-23 in Corpus Christi at the Omni Marina Tower.  The SCWCA conference was co-hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's CASA Writing Center and the Stone Writing Center at Del Mar College. 

Conference attendees and presenters included writing center professionals from Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. The welcome address was given by Provost Christopher Markwood of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Provost Fernando Figueroa of Del Mar College.

Ballmer has 13 years of experience in the field of writing centers. She has presented at numerous conferences across the state and nation, including those for the International Writing Centers Association, and for research writing workshops at the University.

She has served on the conference planning committee of the Coastal Bend Writing Project. Ballmer is also a member of the College English Association, the International Writing Centers Association, and the National Council of Teachers of English.
