Island University Graduate Appears on Two Hit Network Shows

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Derek Dubois, who graduated in December 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, appeared on two hit television shows, “2 Broke Girls” on CBS, and “Scandal” on ABC. He appeared in background roles for both shows, which aired the week of May 6.

After graduating from the University, Dubois moved to Los Angeles, Calif. He has since signed with an agent to assist him in auditioning for Nike, fast food chains, and car commercials.

“I first discovered my passion when my parents first took me to see a children’s play at the Magik Theatre in San Antonio,” said Dubois. “I just remember having this rush of excitement when watching their shows and I knew that I wanted to be able to give people that same rush of excitement. I wanted to be the storyteller.”

Dubois recently began working on a background role for the CBS pilot show “Super Clyde,” staring Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint, which will air this fall.

“Derek is a go-getter,” said Alison Frost, Assistant Professor of Theatre. “His success in the business will come as a surprise to nobody because people will like him and want to work with him.”
