Dogs Relieve Student Stress during ‘Paws on the Island’

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – University students took a break from studying for their finals to interact with dogs provided by Paws Up Inc. during the “Paws on the Island” event May 8.

The event was held in collaboration with the Counseling Center, Mary and Jeff Bell Library, and Recreational Sports on Reading Day, which is a day where students have no classes, and can prepare for their finals.

In the University Center, students relaxed with the dogs, which were accompanied by their trainers. The dogs were available for petting to help reduce stress and anxiety and offer therapeutic benefits to students.

Out on the University Center, East Lawn, students decorated the sidewalk and door hangers, blew bubbles, jump roped, hula hooped, and enjoyed a moon bounce. Recreational Sports also provided a bean bag toss and other entertaining activities.
