University Professor, Doctoral Student, Attend International Counseling Conference in Istanbul, Turkey

ISTANBUL, Turkey –Dr. Kimberly Frazier, Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling & Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and doctoral student, Ihsan Cagatay Ulus, attended the International Association for Counseling (IAC) conference held Sunday, Sept. 8, through Wednesday, Sept. 11, in Istanbul, Turkey. The conference gave counseling professionals from all over the world an opportunity to convene and discuss various topics on counseling and specific populations in counseling.

The counselors spoke about how topics are manifested differently in various countries and to talk about what interventions that each counselor is doing to better counsel the populations impacted. Frazier also helped Dr. Dione Mifsud, President of the IAC, organize a mentoring program for graduate students and new professionals.

Frazier’s doctoral student, Ulus, accompanied her during the trip on his first international conference. It was also an opportunity for him to network with other counseling professional in his home country of Turkey.

The ICA is an international association with scientific and educational goals, is concerned with the interdisciplinary study of counseling and guidance. Through its role as a major partner in global counseling community, the IAC will work to contribute to a world in which peace, social justice, and respect is within the reach of all.
