Student Support Services 2013

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Interviewing can be intimidating for many people, but it’s not a problem for the four Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Student Support Services members who took home to top four places in a mock interview contest at the 2013 Student Leadership Conference. The conference held at Navarro College, in Corsicana, Texas, provided an opportunity for students to network and discuss the issues of leadership, civic engagement, and professional development.

“The students who attended the conference retained leadership skills that they are able to apply at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi,” said April Jasso, Director of Student Support Services. “The prizes that the students received helped take a burden off of them and they are now able to apply more time to studying from home.”

Arron Huss placed first in the mock interview contest, Jacqeuline Navarrete placed second, Raquel Colon took third place, and Rebecca Vega placed fourth.   Navarrete also took second place in the essay contest.

Prizes for winning in this interview contest included an Ipad mini, portfolio and a $50 gift card to Macy’s, and a Kindle Fire HD.

Student Support Services is a federally funded program designed to help first-generation, low-income, and disabled students find success in college. Students benefit from academic support, progress monitoring, success workshops and academic, transfer, and career advising.
