Island University Celebrates 2014 Homecoming Week Feb. 24-March 1

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s faculty, staff, and students joined with alumni and the community to celebrate a week of festivities during the 2014 Homecoming from Monday, Feb. 24, through Saturday, March 1.

This year’s theme was “Get Your Game-Face On.” Activities included a variety of events for all ages including a Faculty/Staff vs. Students Basketball Game that led students to victory, the Lighting of the “I” Spirit Rally, and an Alumni Pre-Game Homecoming Party. Campus Activities Board (CAB) also hosted their Islanderino casino night for participants.   

Saturday festivities included the eighth annual Homecoming Parade along Shoreline Boulevard. Participants were members of the community, various local businesses, and campus organizations. The Official Homecoming Tailgate took place before the Islanders men’s basketball game against Houston Baptist at the American Bank Center. The Islanders won with a final score of 65-45. During halftime, the 2014 Homecoming Court was announced.

The 2014 Homecoming Court is:

  • Homecoming King: David Norris (Islander Anglers)
  • Homecoming Queen: Cecilia Gonzalez (I-Adapt)
  • Homecoming Duke: Chuck Saunders (Delta Chi)
  • Homecoming Duchess: Liz Dombrowski (Delta Delta Delta)

All graduates and former students from the University of Corpus Christi, Texas A&I University at Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi State University and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi are considered members of the greater alumni family.
