CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Enes Yilmazer, a business major and graduate student at the Island University, is taking to the waves as he embarks on the professional windsurfing world tour.
Yilmazer will take part in official Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) World Tour windsurfing competition beginning on Saturday, May 27. The season will last all the way through Sunday, Nov. 9, and will take contestants to locations across the globe from the Canary Islands to the coast of Southern France.
Born in Alacati, Turkey, Yilmazer was drawn to the Island University because of Corpus Christi’s superb conditions for the sport. He has competed all over the world, including Turkey, Germany, South Korea and Spain.
Yilmazer has maintained a full-time school schedule during the spring and fall semesters, serves as Vice President of the Corpus Christi Windsurfers Association and is also active in the Turkish Students Association. He completed his undergraduate studies in December 2013 and will begin his graduate work in business this fall.
