The School of Arts, Media and Communication Co-Hosts 15th Annual Bailando Dance Festival at the Island University

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas– The School of Arts, Media and Communication (SAMC) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Concert Ballet will host the 15th annual Bailando Dance Festival from Thursday, Oct. 2, through Saturday, Oct. 4, on the University campus. The festival, which is open to the public, will include adjudication concerts, master classes, and end with a celebration concert.

Highlights of this year’s festival include principle dancers from Ballet Austin, the Ad Deum Dance Company from Houston, and Urban Souls Dance Company from Houston. 

Events are as follows:

  • Thursday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 3 – Bailando Dance Festival Adjudication Concerts will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2, and Friday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. During the two evening performances, a panel of experts will critique the works of choreographers from all over the state of Texas. On Friday evening, special guests will include principle dancers from Ballet Austin, Ad Deum Dance Company, and Urban Souls Dance Company from Houston, Texas. Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi students each night and can be purchased at www.ccbailando.com or the box office one hour prior to the performance.

 

  • Friday, Oct. 3 through Saturday, Oct. 4  Bailando Dance Festival Master classes will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct.4, from 9 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the Dugan Wellness Center and Island Hall.   •  Saturday, Oct. 4 The Bailando Dance Festival Gala Celebration Concert will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Select performances from the adjudication concerts will be showcased as well as performances by the hosts of the festival, the Corpus Christi Concert Ballet and the Texas A&M Island Dance Company. Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi students each night and can be purchased at www.ccbailando.com or the box office one hour prior to the performance.
