CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Marcos Gutierrez, an English major at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, was featured as a first-time guest host on the local radio show, “Lago in the Morning,” on 1360 News Radio KKTX AM during the mornings of September 16-17, discussing various national and local news items.
Gutierrez served as radio producer and on-air personality for “Lago in the Morning” from 1999 to 2002 and has remained close friends with host, Jim Lago. In addition to Lago’s views on local and national issues, the show interviews local government officials and news makers, and also has frequent news, weather, sports and traffic updates.
“I have always enjoyed working on the radio, particularly in the news-talk radio format,” said Gutierrez. “It gives me the opportunity to be creative, opinionated, and influential. Not many areas of employment allow the liberty that radio offers.”
After graduating from Ozark Bible Institute and College in Neosho, Mo., Gutierrez ministered as Associate Pastor at Exeter Assembly of God in Exeter, Mo., later becoming the Senior Pastor before resigning in early 2010, and returning to Corpus Christi to continue his education.
“I’d love the opportunity to work in the media field again,” said Gutierrez. “However, after completing my education at A&M-Corpus Christi, nothing would please me more than to work in education.”
