CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center (CBBIC) and Del Mar College’s Small Business Development Center invite you to Entrepreneur Night 2014 on Oct. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m.at the Innovation Center, 10201 S. Padre Island Drive
This event is free and is open to the public with an aim to inform small business owners and other entrepreneurs in the Coastal Bend area about opportunities and resources at their disposal. Representatives from area economic development entities that focus on small business will be in attendance including the Small Business Administration, micro lender Accion, area chambers of commerce, and economic development corporations. The College of Business is building on the entrepreneurial strength of its Innovation Center with its programs and services to help the residents of the Coastal Bend create, plan, and also start their own businesses. Students benefit, too, through direct contact with small businesses with a wide variety of business models and concepts.The College of Business helps students and community members succeed in creating and running their own businesses for the betterment of the Coastal Bend community. The size of the overall business activity at the Innovation Center continues to expand since the Center opened in 2009. The total revenues among its current clients are estimated to total approximately $5 million in 2013, an increase from $1.2 million in 2010. A grand total of $3,446,520 in equity has been raised by the companies in this program along with 141 new jobs created in the community.
