Research Opportunities Expand as the Island University Welcomes At Least 67 New Faculty Members for Fall 2014

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – At least 67 new professors have joined the faculty at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for the fall 2014 semester. The new faculty will support an expanding number of research programs ranging from global education and educational administration to physical oceanography and artificial intelligence.

By providing these full-time opportunities, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi continues to have a positive impact on the Coastal Bend by providing 5,344 full-time-equivalent jobs, and generating an estimated $259 million annually to the Coastal Bend economy.  

“We welcome our new faculty, many of whom bring new and exciting expertise, to the Island University,” said Dr. Flavius Killebrew, President and CEO of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. “Our students will greatly benefit from the knowledge these faculty members bring to the table and the growth in research opportunities they will generate.”

The new professors will aid in the continued student growth at the Island University, which experienced an increase in enrollment numbers during the fall 2014 semester with an official total of 11,256 students. New professors were hired across all five academic colleges at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
