CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Around 80 Islander alumni attended the first Islander Alumni Networking Mixer held on Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Islander Art Gallery. The goal of the mixer was to give graduates a chance to expand their networks and the opportunity to speak with recruiters. Recruiters from as far away as Austin met with students. The event was to help foster student and alumni connections, and grow the Islander Network.
“It was a great event for alumni and students to connect and potentially provide some new opportunities for those of us looking to hire our Islanders and grow our own businesses,” said Ray de Los Santos of Santos McBain Management & Planning.
Both large and small companies recruited at the event to meet prospective alumni. Competitive alumni who attended brought their business cards, and resumes.
“We co-sponsored the event with Career Services to give our students and alumni the opportunity to utilize their help in improving resumes, interview and networking skills, and connecting with recruiters,” said Lori Garza, Director of Engagement at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
“We are building our Islander network and making employers see the value in the students and alumni we produce at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.”
