CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The freshmen of 1994 at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi celebrated their 20-year reunion during a fun-filled weekend of activities held October 17-19 on the University campus.
The main event, the 20th Anniversary Reunion Party, was held on Saturday evening at the Woo Sung Lee Alumni Welcome Center. Alumni from as far away as Odessa, Texas, gathered to enjoy a barbecue dinner and to reminisce on their time at the Island University. The group also opened a time capsule that was buried by the class during their time at the University.
“It was so good to see all our classmates at the reunion, and I was very grateful for the opportunity to show what this amazing University has become,” said Ben Soto, Freshmen Class of 1994. “We will never forget our wonderful and unique experiences that we shared as the first Freshman Class of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. I hope to get together like this again in the future!”
The Reunion Weekend gave the University’s first freshmen class a chance to see how the campus has grown over the last 20 years. The alumni were also able to connect with former roommates, classmates, and other friends for a weekend of excitement.
Events included an Islanders soccer game against Abilene Christian University; an alumni cocktail reception; the Shakespeare play, “The Winter’s Tale;” a campus tour and picnic; and a pool party.
