University Students Receive Scholarships for Winning Artwork

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The winners of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi 2014 President’s Council Reception and Art Show held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, are:

First placeAmbrosia Washington received first place for her photography, “Ruhe, Meine Seele! (Rest, My Soul).” Washington received a $1,000 scholarship.

Second placeKaleigh Glover received second place for her oil on panel painting, “Flowers in a Vase.” Glover received a $750 scholarship.

Third placeRoss Turner and Corynne Lopez tie for third place with, Turner’s “American Muscle (Up on Blocks),” woodcut piece, and Lopez’s “Lions at the Aquarium,” gouache piece. They each received a $500 scholarship.

The private reception and art show was held at the Art Museum of South Texas to recognize the members of the 2014 President’s Council. President’s Council Chairs are Vanessa and Fred Braselton.

The winning artwork will become part of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s collection.
