Dr. Steven Brown Named Winner in the 2014 University Council of Educational Administration Film Festival

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Dr. Steven Brown, Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, has been named a Film Festival Winner in the 2014 University Council of Educational Administration (UCEA) Film Festival.

The film is a video clip of his award-winning stage play: "BROWN. Thurgood Marshall and Earl Warren - A Conversation." The film submissions were independently reviewed by a three-member peer review panel, which selected Brown and 13 other winners. As a winner, Brown had his film screened at the UCEA 2014 Film Festival in Washington, D.C., which took place from Nov. 20-23, 2014.

The Texas House of Representatives has passed a resolution congratulating Brown and extends to Brown sincere best wishes for his continued success and happiness.

Also, Brown was invited by the National Park Service to have the stage version of this production performed at the President U.S. Grant Historic Home site in St. Louis, Mo., on February 21. Brown will present two lectures at that time, focusing on high-impact practices.

Previously, Brown was also named the 2014 Oliver L. Brown Visiting Scholar for Diversity Issues. He was awarded by the Brown Foundation and Washburn University for his play “BROWN. Thurgood Marshall and Earl Warren - A Conversation."

After receiving his Ph.D. from Iowa State University, Brown was a Professor of Educational Law at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. He has worked in the broadcast field for an affiliate of National Public Radio and Wisconsin Public Radio and was a News Anchor and Investigative reporter for a CBS Television News affiliate. Now, he is an award-winning playwright and is also President and Chief Executive Officer of the not-for-profit Brown-Ullstrup Performing Arts Foundation.
