CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –A member of the top administration at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has accepted a similar position at The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Kathryn Funk-Baxter, Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration at A&M-Corpus Christi, is transitioning to the position of Vice President for Business Affairs at UTSA.

“On behalf of the entire Island University, we thank Kathy for her service,” said Dr. Flavius Killebrew, President and CEO of A&M-Corpus Christi. “We will be sad to see her go, but understand the draw to be closer to her family in San Antonio.”

Funk-Baxter has been instrumental in operations of the Island University since her arrival in 1994.

Funk-Baxter served the University in numerous capacities, including as comptroller. She oversaw the areas of Compliance, Administrative Services, Budget, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities Services, Auxiliary Services and University Police.

“I have enjoyed my 21 years here at the Island University, and appreciate all my colleagues and fellow Islanders,” Funk-Baxter said. “It is with saddened heart that I have made this decision to leave my friends and colleagues to return home to San Antonio and my family.”

A&M-Corpus Christi will conduct a national search for the next Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration. In the interim, Terry Tatum, Associate Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, will handle the office’s duties.
