Two winners have earned the titles of “Junior IDOL of Corpus Christi” and “Corpus Christi IDOL” for 2015 during solo talent competitions held February 27-28, at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Performing Arts Center.
Seventh grader Natalie Rogers of Marvin Baker Middle School took first place in the third annual “Junior IDOL of Corpus Christi” and eighth grader Joe Anthony Perez of Ben Bolt Middle School took first place in the fifth annual “Corpus Christi IDOL” in the final rounds of the solo talent competitions. Natalie received $100 and Joe Anthony received $300 for their first place finishes.

Twenty finalists were selected to compete in “Junior IDOL of Corpus Christi” and “Corpus Christi Idol.” All finalists received a special commemorative medal and the six winners of Jr. IDOL and Corpus Christi IDOL received a commemorative trophy and cash prize. Both of the annual IDOL solo singing competitions are sponsored by La Palmera Mall, and the School of Arts, Media & Communication, and the Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
More than $6,550 was raised for theatre scholarships and theatre programming this year.
