The Island University Honored Graduate Professionals at Awards Luncheon

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –The College of Graduate Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi honored outstanding graduate professionals and educators at the Graduate Awards Luncheon on April 7, as part of the 2nd Annual Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation week (GSPAW).

The GPSAW is a week-long series of campus-wide events to honor and recognize the contributions of our graduate students. Other events during this week included a resume building workshop, loan repayment workshops, a free professional photo shoot, graduate job fair, a social media etiquette class, and the reading of proclamations on behalf of the Office of the Governor Greg Abbott and Corpus Christi Mayor Nelda Martinez.

The award recipients, who were presented with a plaque during the luncheon, were:

Outstanding Doctoral Mentor Award: Dr. Kamiar Kouzekanani - College of Education

Outstanding Master’s Mentor Award: Dr. Lee Smee - College of Science and Engineering

Outstanding Doctoral Student: Dr. Luke Tornabene - College of Science and Engineering

Outstanding Master’s Student Award: Kathryn Mendenhall - College of Science and Engineering

Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award: Tiana McCoy Pearce - College of Education
