A College of Liberal Arts student will get the chance to meet with six Nobel Peace Prize winners this April, as part of a conference called Defending the Defenders.

The conference, held in the Netherlands, will include a screening of Camp 72, a documentary by A&M-Corpus Christi’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs Seema Mathur-Hopkins.

Student Maritza Hernandez will use the trip as a springboard for a project to empower South Texas women upon her return.

This documentary, which will be screened at A&M-Corpus Christi later this year, follows a quest for justice and healing after war in Liberia through the eyes of survivors, warlords, grassroots activists and four Nobel Laureates who are dedicated to ending violence against women in conflict.
