Island University Congratulates Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs on New Position

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Dr. Chris Markwood of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will be the next President at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia.

Dr. Markwood, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs since 2011, has worked to advance the University’s mission.  Dr. Markwood said, “It has been a rewarding opportunity to work with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s entire staff, faculty and president in moving the university towards its mission of becoming an emerging research institution.”

In addition to contributing to the University’s research goals, Markwood has also been involved in developing new academic programs. He has successfully worked to improve student retention, enrollment and student success.

“On behalf of the entire Island University, we thank Dr. Markwood for his service,” said Dr. Flavius Killebrew, President and CEO of A&M-Corpus Christi. “We wish him the best with this new step in his career.”
