CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Dr. Mary Jane Hamilton, Founding Dean of the College Nursing and Health Sciences at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, was honored by the Texas House of Representatives by the passing of a resolution commending a lifetime of achievements in the nursing profession, and her distinguished career as a nurse educator.

The resolution is an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and extends best wishes for her continued success and happiness.

“The skill and commitment that Dr. Mary Jane Hamilton has brought to her many responsibilities have greatly benefited the people of Corpus Christi,” said Rep. Abel Herrero. “She is indeed deserving of these prestigious awards from her alma mater.”

The resolution comes after Hamilton’s recent selection as the recipient of the 2015 Georgia Regents University (GRU) College of Nursing Phoebe Kandel Rohrer Distinguished Alumna and Presidential Alumna award.

“I am humbled and honored to be recognized by both by Rep. Abel Herrero and Georgia Regents University,” said Hamilton. “Recognition of this magnitude is a once in a lifetime event.”

Hamilton will be honored on Friday, April 24, at the Georgia Regents University College of Nursing Distinguished Alumni Lecture and Honors Event and again on Saturday, April 25, at the Georgia Regents University Alumni Weekend Signature Event in Augusta, Ga.
