First Alumni Photography Exhibit Showcases Alumni Creativity

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Portraits, nature, architecture and action photographs are captured in the first Alumni Photography Exhibition, which kicked off with an opening reception Thursday, May 28 in the Mary and Jeff Bell Library on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus.

The exhibit is one of several new initiatives by the library to enrich the campus experience and engage the public in the library’s activities and programs.

“This has never been done before,” said Jeff Janko, Library Information Specialist and coordinator of the event. “We wanted to invite alumni who love photography, some were photographers who worked here at the university, student photographers some graduated with an interest in photography and we wanted to give them an opportunity to share their work.”

Brandy West, an 2007 alumna, has two photos in the exhibit that capture moments in time from her travels to Thailand and Malaysia.

“This is a wonderful way to bring everyone who loves photography who is in this little community back together and catch up and see all these wonderful photos.”

The exhibit will remain on display through Sunday, July 26. It is free and open to the public. The photos are available for purchase.
