Island University Named one of Most Beautiful Coastal College Campuses

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has been named one of the 30 most beautiful coastal college campuses in the United States by Best Value Schools. The Island University was the only campus in Texas featured on the list, and was ranked No. 23 in the nation.

“Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is the perfect school for anyone in love with water sports as the area is well known for its white sand beaches,” read the report. “As if the average of 223 days of sunshine wasn’t awesome enough, high wind speeds in the area make it perfect for wind surfing, sailing, or kite boarding.”

According to Best Value Schools, universities were scored based on their location, awards and recognition, student enjoyment, and notable features, including historical significance, environmental friendliness, and proximity to local or privately owned beaches.

“Every time I drive by campus, I think to myself ‘Wow, that’s a beautiful view,’ and somehow it lessens the stress of my classes,” said student Raymond Gutierrez.

The beauty of our campus isn’t just about the beach. Students also enjoy the natural beauty of the university’s flowering plants, which offer a variety of nooks and crannies to sit and study, socialize with friends, or de-stress from a long day of classes.

“I absolutely agree with the report,” said student Brianne Castillo. “I like the atmosphere of our campus. I like that there are a lot of trees and flowers, and that it seems like they are building more garden-like areas.”

The school that ranked No. 1 on the list of 30 Most Beautiful Coastal College Campuses was Pepperdine University, in Malibu, Ca. The prestigious Christian college was noted for its Mediterranean-Revival architecture, easy access to celebrity dotted beaches, and views of the Pacific Ocean.
