Island University and Buc Days Team Up to Host Student ‘Ideas Challenge’ Competition

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Attention students: Do you have a great idea, invention, innovation, technology or business idea? The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s College of Business, the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center and Buc Days have teamed up to form the Buc Days Ideas Challenge, a business concept competition that will highlight the most promising innovations and entrepreneurial concepts developed by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi students.

 “We are fully committed to supporting entrepreneurship education,” said Dr. John Gamble, Dean of the College of Business. “Some of the brightest young minds are here at the Island University, and the Buc Days Ideas Challenge gives our students the opportunity to turn ideas into a tangible business or product.”

Students wanting to learn more about the challenge are invited to attend information sessions on Wednesday, Oct. 6 and Thursday, Oct. 7, from 3-4:15 p.m. in the O’Connor Building, room 135.

Prizes for the Buc Days Ideas Challenge include:

  • 1st place - $3,000; a 1-year membership to the Innovation Center’s co-working spaces;  entry as a top 40 semi-finalist in the Raymond Ideas Challenge at Texas A&M University-College Station
  • 2nd place - $2,000 and 1-year membership to the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center Student Incubator
  • 3rd place - $1,000 and 1-year membership to the Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center Student Incubator
  • Best video - $500.

Applications, which include an online entry form and a two minute video, are being accepted through Dec. 15. Participants can submit multiple ideas. Click here to apply.
