‘Go Blue, Give Green’ Campaign Helps Provide Better Campus Opportunities

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – During the month of September, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi launched the “Go Blue, Give Green” campaign to raise awareness about philanthropy on campus and to encourage students, faculty, and staff to give back to the University.

A total of $34,635.66 was raised during the month-long campaign.

“Go Blue, Give Green” was created to produce more opportunities for students and a better campus community. Thanks to private gifts from generous individuals, corporations and community organizations, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi can offer cutting-edge, 21st century programs and do innovative research. Faculty, staff and students were able to designate the area they wanted to support, such as scholarships, endowments or department programs.

“When we give to the Island University, we are investing in the future of our students and our community,” said Dr. Flavius Killebrew, President and CEO of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. “It’s important to realize that every little gift counts, and together as a campus, we can help our students achieve their dreams through providing extra financial help or creating a new program to help them succeed.”

During the campaign, various events were held throughout September to promote giving. The events included “Skip Day,” where students were encouraged to skip their cup of coffee or that extra taco, and instead, make a donation to student scholarships.
