CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Voting is now open for the video competition portion of the Buc Days Ideas Challenge. The Ideas Challenge, which is a joint partnership between Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and the Buc Days Commission, is a business concept competition that gives the TAMU-CC students an outlet to test their business idea, technology or innovation in a competitive setting. Click here to vote.
The public is invited to vote for one of the top 13 finalists, each of whom submitted a business plan and a two-minute video. The top finalists were selected by the College of Business entrepreneurial faculty, who judged more than 40 submitted entries.
“We are elated that so many students entered the competition,” said Dr. John Gamble, Dean of the College of Business. “Narrowing the field from 40 to 13 was tough.”
Video voting is open to the general public, though voters must have a Facebook page to cast their ballot. Voting will close Wednesday, Feb. 3, at noon. The prize for the best video is $500.
The winner of the Buc Days Ideas Challenge video competition will be announced at the 2016 Buc Days Scholarship Luncheon – on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – in the Henry Garrett Ballroom of the American Bank Center. Tickets and sponsorships are still available.
Also during the luncheon, the top three overall finalists from Ideas Challenge will perform a live pitch of their entrepreneurial idea and a celebrity judge panel will award the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
