TAMU-CC Online Nursing Program Ranks 4th in Texas According to US News & World Report

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Master of Science in Nursing program (MSN) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has been ranked as one of the 2016 Best Online Nursing Programs by U.S. News & World Report.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s MSN offered in Family Nurse Practitioner Program, Leadership in Nursing Systems and Nursing Education earned the No. 36 spot, and is the 4th highest Texas school on the national list. U.S. News ranked the online programs by calculating data from statistical surveys based upon student engagement, peer reputation, admissions selectivity, student services and technology, and faculty credentials and training.

“We’re honored to be recognized as one of the best online graduate nursing programs in the nation,” said Dr. Mary Jane Hamilton, Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. “Our experienced team of nurse educators strives to provide the best online tools and cutting-edge online learning techniques to reach students ranging from urban working professionals to those in rural areas. By offering this quality education, we are helping to fill the gaps that exist in healthcare in our communities and throughout the country.”

The A&M-Corpus Christi online MSN program, accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education, consists of coursework that prepares registered nurses for advanced clinical, educator or leadership positions needing specialized expertise.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is a public institution where all of the graduate-level, online nursing classes are recorded and archived so that students can access lecture material at their convenience, according to U.S. News & World Report. The report goes on to say that 100 percent of students are already employed when they first enroll. Total enrollment in the program is 449 students.

The Island University has been a statewide leader in nursing education for decades; distinctions include grants and recognition from the White House for its outreach to veterans. The College also was awarded in 2013 with the Excellence and Innovation in Teaching Award by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. As one of the fastest-growing professions in the nation, the nursing online program at TAMU-CC provides significant flexibility for students who are already working in the field or for those who want to grow further in their career.
