Islander Alumnus Returns to the University to Share Entrepreneurial Experience and Sign Copies of his Book

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Adrian “AC” Clark, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi alumnus, owner of AC Sports Management and recent Forbes magazine “30 Under 30” honoree, will return to his alma mater on Thursday, Feb. 4, to share his experience as an entrepreneur with fellow Islanders and sign copies of his first book, “i-A Guide for Young Entrepreneurs.” The event will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the University Center, Bayview room, and is free and open to the public.

“There is no place like home,” said Clark, a native of Dallas. “‘Excited’ is not the word to describe coming back to campus. Whatever word exceeds excited, that’s what I am.”

During the event, Clark will give a short lecture about his book and answer questions from the audience. Signed copies of the book will be for sale, and all proceeds benefit the Islander Alumni Association.

Clark’s book covers the ups and downs of Clark’s entrepreneurial journey. He says the book transforms those experiences into a teaching guide for young entrepreneurs.

“I came into entrepreneurship with no investor, no mentor and no partner, and because of that, I failed often,” said Clark. “I want my book to help entrepreneurs avoid the obstacles and hurdles I went through.”

Clark runs a successful sports management company, representing professional boxers. In the January 2016 edition of Forbes magazine, he was named a Forbes “30 Under 30,” in the sports category. In that issue, Forbes recognized 30 outstanding entrepreneurs in 20 different categories.

“It is an amazing recognition,” stated Clark. “It is not just amazing for me. It is amazing for the University, my professors and everyone who has helped me to get to this point in my business.”

Clark graduated from A&M-Corpus Christi in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in public relations.

“It only took one visit to the Island University to fall in love with the campus and its top notch professors,” said Clark. “I’m thrilled to return, especially during Homecoming Week 2016.”
