Islander Battalion Hosts 5K Run and Push-up Challenge in Celebration of ROTC 100th Anniversary

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – More than 140 runners participated in the Islander Battalion ROTC 5K & and Push-up Challenge on February 6, which celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of Army ROTC and the 10th anniversary of the ROTC Islander Battalion. The challenge was also held in conjunction with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Homecoming Week.

The 5K featured a USATF-certified course on the University’s hike-and-bike trail. There were Army-themed dog tags for all finishers and special awards for the top age groups and overall winners.

After the 5K, participants were invited to take part in the push-up challenge which offered prizes to the male and female who completed the most military-style push-ups in two minutes.

All proceeds from the event went to support the Islander Battalion Cadet Club.
