CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – PlainsCapital Bank pledged $100,000 for student scholarships at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi during a grand opening event of their regional headquarters in Corpus Christi on Thursday, Feb. 4.
The generous donation will create the PlainsCapital Bank Endowed Scholarship in Finance for students studying finance in the University’s College of Business.
“We are excited to have this new partnership with PlainsCapital Bank,” said Dr. Flavius Killebrew, President and CEO of A&M-Corpus Christi. “Endowed scholarships such as this one give us a steady stream of funding to recognize students’ outstanding performance and exceptional potential and keep a college education affordable.”
Frank Hastings, PlainsCapital Bank’s Market President for Corpus Christi, is one of the many A&M-Corpus Christi alumni working at the bank. Giving back is crucial for the community bank, he said.
“We are excited about supporting the University,” Hastings said. “PlainsCapital Bank is committed to the community and this donation shows that support.”
PlainsCapital Bank is the sixth largest Texas-headquartered bank and operates more than 67 Texas branches with more than 1,200 employees. The bank entered the Corpus Christi market in 2013.
