ROTC Islander Battalion Leadership Forum Features U.S. Rep. Farenthold

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Corpus Christi) addressed members of the ROTC Islander Battalion as part of the group’s leadership forum series on February 16 in the University Center on the campus of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Farenthold spoke to the group about the importance of pursuing a goal or vision that is bigger than one person.

“To be a leader, you have to have something you are striving for, and then you have to enroll people in that,” he said.

He also spoke about teamwork.

“No matter how good you are, you can’t do it by yourself,” he said. “And it’s a lot easier with people helping you.”

The series brings in speakers to share leadership advice as part of the ROTC’s overall mission to develop leadership and excellence in future military leaders.

The Army ROTC Islander Battalion recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of the founding of Army ROTC.
