April 22, 2016

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will host the fourth annual School of Arts, Media, and Communication (SAMC) Awards in the Performing Arts Center on Sunday, May 1, beginning at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by Tipsy Canvas.

The SAMC Awards recognize outstanding alumni, faculty and students from the four Liberal Arts departments: Art, Communication & Media, Music and Theatre & Dance. The award recipients are selected by faculty and staff of each department for their distinguished contribution to the University. A total of 37 SAMC awards will be handed out this year.

“The SAMC Awards is a special event that students, faculty and community members look forward to all year,” said Dina Ruiz, SAMC Events Specialist. “Our students are enormously talented and work extremely hard and this event does so much to honor them.”

This year, audience members of the SAMC Awards can expect performances from the Department of Theatre and Dance’s cast of “RENT,” the Trombone Choir, the student organization Singers’ Theatre and film trailers from Communication and Media students.
