More than 1,000 Islanders Graduate at Spring 2016 Commencement

Students from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s five colleges received diplomas during the two spring 2016 commencement ceremonies today (Saturday, May 14) at the American Bank Center Arena.

            The nearly 1,070 graduates are the largest graduating class to date, and included:

  • Christina Brooks: A veteran of the United States Army, she was instrumental in creating a Student Veterans Lounge in the University Center. Christina graduated from the College of Liberal Arts with a degree in Psychology. She plans to go on to master’s school and strives for a job working with her fellow veterans.
  • Ruben Rodriguez: At 54, he received his Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering, after seeing his wife, son and daughter receive degrees from A&M-Corpus Christi.

The commencement speaker was Charles Doraine, President and CEO of Doraine Wealth Management Group, Inc.
