World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra to Come to the Island University

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Glenn Miller Orchestra will spice up the Performing Arts Center stage with its unique jazz sounds and swing dance arrangements on Saturday, March 4, as part of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi 2016-2017 Furgason Bravo! Series. The concert will take place in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at 7:30 p.m.

“I expect this concert to be uplifting and nostalgic for members of the audience,” said Dr. Lari Young, Director of the PAC. “I’m thrilled we can have the Glenn Miller Orchestra back in the Coastal Bend on a Saturday night so everyone can experience a great night out on the town.”

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most sought after big band in the world, playing an average of 300 shows a year. The orchestra was created by Glenn Miller in 1938, and with its unique sound began to break attendance records. After 77 years, and countless performances, the 18-member ensemble still plays many of the original Miller arrangements.

“From the first note of sound check, the Glenn Miller Orchestra transports you back to the big band era,” said Young. “They sound so much like the original group of musicians.”

Concert tickets will cost $25-$35 for reserved seating and $7 for children and Islander Students with a valid SandDollar$ ID. Tickets can be purchased online at http://tamucc.tix.com or by phone at 361.825.ARTS. Discounts are available for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi faculty and staff at the PAC Box Office.
