Island University Honored For Supporting Transfer Students

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – For the second year in a row, Phi Theta Kappa has recognized Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in their Transfer Honor Roll. The Transfer Honor Roll identifies the top four-year colleges and universities who create dynamic pathways to support transfer students. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will be among the 112 colleges and universities recognized at the PTK Catalyst 2018 convention in April.

“We are very proud of Dr. Pat Hill and our Transfer Team,” said Dr. Melissa Jarrell, chair of the Department of Undergraduate Studies at A&M-Corpus Christi. “Serving transfer students is an important part of our mission. Through our strong partnership with Admissions, we are able to provide transfer students with as much information as possible to be successful at the University.”

According to the Phi Theta Kappa President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, the transfer honor roll reflects the growing importance of responding to the needs of community college transfers and promoting best practices for transfer success. Since A&M-Corpus Christi’s first recognition in the Transfer Honor Roll, the University has taken additional steps to ensure transfer student success. A&M-Corpus Christi is now equipped with a dedicated transfer team who will provide online transfer guides and are working towards creating an on-campus transfer orientation.

“We’re here to support and answer questions for all transfer students prior to and once admitted to A&M -Corpus Christi,” said Dr. Patricia Hill, director of Transfer Services at A&M-Corpus Christi. “We’re here to help guide and provide them with important information for a successful transition.”

Phi Theta Kappa is the world’s largest and most prestigious honor society for two-year college students. A&M-Corpus Christi is proud to offer exclusive benefits to Phi Theta Kappa alumni through the Phi Theta Kappa Epsilon Alumni Association. Members receive increased networking opportunities and scholarships to help ease any financial burden.
