The city of Corpus Christi, Texas is located in southern Texas along the Gulf of Mexico. Because of its coastal location, the city has bout 192 square miles of shoreline and beaches that are well worth a visit almost year round. Here are a few other fun facts about Corpus Christi that you might be interested in:
- The name Corpus Christi, which translates to "Body of Christ" was given by Spanish explores in the 1500's after they discovered the city on the Roman Catholic holiday Feast Day of Corpus Christi. The name of the city was named after that holiday.
- Pop legend, Selena, also known as the "Queen of Tejano Music," was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. After her tragic death, the city erected a bronze statue of the singer, which overlooks the Corpus Christi Bay in downtown, as a tribute to her. The Selena Museum, also located in downtown Corpus Christi, was also created to pay tribute to the iconic singer.
- The USS Lexington, a historical ship located in the north part of the city, served as the set for Michael Bay's film, "Pearl Harbor."
- Whataburger, a popular restaurant chain in Texas, was founded in Corpus Christi, Texas. The original, two-story location, in downtown Corpus Christi, is still open to this day and continues to serve their iconic burgers and menu.
- Due to high winds, the city of Corpus Christi is considered one of best destinations in the U.S. for wind surfing, kite flying, sailing, and kiteboarding.

International students apply to TAMU-CC at various points of their academic careers. Depending on which specific category you qualify for, the type of admissions application and required admissions documents will vary. Please read the categories below to see which process is relevant to you.
INTERNATIONAL FRESHMAN STUDENTS
Complete the International Freshman Student application if you:
- Are not a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the U.S., and
- Are not a holder or prospective holder of an F-1 student visa, and
- Have recently graduated or will graduate from high school, and
- You have taken the IELTS or TOEFL exam, or you come from one of the countries which may be exempt from submitting IELTS or TOEFL scores (see list of exempt countries here.)
International Freshman Student Application
INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER STUDENT
Complete the International Transfer Student application if you:
- Are not a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the U.S., and
- Are a holder or prospective holder of an F-1 student visa, and
- Have or will have earned 24 or more transferable college credit hours at the time of your intended transfer, or
- Are applying as an international exchange student from one of TAMU-CC's institutional partners
International Transfer Student Application
INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE STUDENT
Complete the International Graduate student application if you:
- Are not a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the U.S., and
- Are a holder or prospective holder of an F-1 student visa, and
- Have graduated or will graduate with a Bachelor degree, and
- Intend to pursue a graduate program
