Biography

Dr. Veysel Avsar  is appointed as Professor of Economics at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He graduated from Istanbul University in 2006 with a BS in Economics and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Florida International University in 2011 with "Outstanding Achievement" and "Outstanding Dissertation in Economics" awards.

Dr. Avsar worked as a Teaching Assistant from 2006 to 2008, and as a lecturer from 2008 to 2011 at Florida International University. He was a visiting scholar at Deakin University of Australia in 2008 and in the University of California San Diego in 2010. Between 2011 and 2016, Dr. Avsar worked as Assistant & Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Antalya International University (Turkey) where he also served as the Department Chair. Before joining College of Business at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2017, Dr. Avsar was a faculty member at Montana State University. Dr. Avsar was also the recipient of the Professor of Year Award from the College of Business in 2019.
