Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers


Through the generous support of the Charles Butt Foundation, TAMU-CC students are eligible to apply for the Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers. This scholarship will provide $4000 per fall and spring semester ($8,000 per year) to qualified students.
The 2026-2027 application window will open in fall 2026.

To apply, you must fulfill the following three criteria:
- Be committed to teaching in Texas public school, at either of the following:
- A Title I school (majority economically disadvantaged)
- OR a shortage subject area (math, science, bilingual education, special education)
- Have at least one full year of coursework to left complete.
- Be pursuing certification through one of these programs:
- Early Childhood Education (EC-3)
- Elementary Education (EC-6)
- Bilingual Education (EC-6)
- Special Education (EC-12)
- Mathematics (4-8)
- Physical Education (EC-12)
Once selected, scholars are expected to maintain full-time status, have a 3.0+ GPA, attend monthly scholar events, meet with the program lead, and assist in recruiting new scholars.
