Applied Computing Essentials Certificate

This intensive program is designed to prepare students from non-computer science backgrounds for success in an MS: Computer Science program. Students in the Bridge to Master’s program will learn from experienced faculty a broad range of computer science fundamentals, including programming, data structures and algorithms, systems, artificial intelligence, software development, and mathematical foundations. Upon successful completion of the Bridge to master’s program, students will be eligible to continue their studies in the university’s Master of Science in Computer Science program.

The certificate in Applied Computing Essentials require 18 credits:

• 9 – Programming and software development courses
• 3 – Foundational computer systems course
• 3 – Mathematical foundations course
• 3 – Introductory Artificial Intelligence course

The certificate in Applied Computing Essentials will provide students and practitioners who have already obtained a bachelor's degree in other fields with a general knowledge of the field. This will prepare students for professionalization within the field or help them pursue additional education. Acquiring this certificate also means completing the Bridge Program for MS in Computer Science. With this, students can pursue the MS in Computer Science program at TAMUCC.
