Teacher Education Advisory Committee
Purpose or Function: The Teacher Education Advisory Committee will develop, implement, and review both process and outcome data in order to communicate appropriate feedback and recommendations for practice to all concerned parties for teacher education. These data shall include but not be limited to, communications from the relevant state regulatory and legislative agencies, aggregate performance on state mandated assessments and certification examinations, and such other data as shall be available to or collected by the committee in order to fully discharge the duties and responsibilities which are assigned to it.
The committee will meet no less than twice a year and make recommendations to the associated and involved faculty, departments and deans related to the conduct and content of instruction in order to maximize student professional preparation and associated achievement on such accountability measures as shall be implemented by state and national requirements. In addition, the committee will provide an annual report to the deans/directors of the involved colleges/schools with a copy of all recommendations and reports provided to the Office of the Provost and others as directed by that office.
Membership: The committee will operate under the auspices and with the authority of the Office of the Provost and will be constituted by no fewer than two (2) of the faculty representatives connected with educator preparation programs from the appropriate academic colleges/schools recommended by the respective deans/directors and appointed by the Provost. These members will serve three-year renewable terms. Non-voting ex-officio members of the committee include: the College of Education and Human Development Dean and Associate Dean, the lead advisor from the College of Education and Human Development, the department chair for the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Learning Sciences, and the Teacher Certification Coordinator. Community representatives may serve as non-voting members with annual, renewable terms upon request from the chair and approval by the Provost. Replacements, as necessary, shall be appointed similarly.
Chair: A member from the College of Education and Human Development elected by the committee.
